We first made this book for our daughter, Maithreyi Girishkumar, whom we lovingly call Kunjikukku. She was born in Oxford a little over a year ago, and as she began to discover the world around her, we wanted to give her the Malayalam words that made our own world feel like home. We now hope that what began as a little board book for her will help other Malayalee families living abroad share their language, memories, and sense of belonging with their children.
